This article explains the pre-requisites for a OneDrive to OneDrive migration.
For this kind of migration, source and target prerequisites are identical.
On both sides, we need to have a full access on every OneDrive. To do that, the platform needs this information:
- The root URL of the OneDrive collection: https://company-my.sharepoint.com
- Login credentials for the SharePoint administrator
- An AppId, AppSecret, and AppRealm of the tenant
See this article to know how to find your AppID, AppSecret, and AppRealm in SharePoint for Cloudiway Migration.
On the target side, if you plan to use the preprocessing task, the admin account must have a valid SharePoint license. Otherwise, the OneDrive’s provisioning cannot be proceeded .
Special characters in the file and folder names
According to the official Microsoft documentation, file and folder names can not contain some special characters (You can find the full list here). Thus, during migration the platform will rename such files with ‘_’ character instead.
Note to characters ‘#’ and ‘%’: You can allow your users to create files and folders with ‘#’ and ‘%’ characters in the drives (How to allow article), but the platform will translate their names per general rule. Due to Microsoft APIs limitations permissions and metadata can not be retrieved for such files. The files will be migrated without this data. If you want to migrate these files with permissions and metada, we advise you to rename such files before the migration.
