One of the most complex tasks during migration between two Office 365 tenants (merging, splitting, acquisition) is probably the migration of OneDrives.

Cloudiway provides a migration engine for migrating from/to OneDrive.
Here is a step-by-step tutorial showing how to migrate OneDrives between two Office 365 tenants.

1. Create a Source connector

Click on File Migration > Sources and click on New.
Select a OneDrive connector.
Note: You can also start the wizard and select this migration scenario.
Source OneDrive connector

The admin username is the UPN of the account that will be configured to get access to all OneDrive profiles.

2. Configure the source

The first step of the configuration is to create a migration account and give it the permissions to access all the OneDrives.
The preprocessing task of Cloudiway automatically sets the permissions to the account that you have defined on the connector.
You can also set the permissions manually or with PowerShell:
- Create an admin account using PowerShell.
- Manually set permissions to the migration account.

3. Create a target connector

Target OneDrive connector

The admin username is the UPN of the account that will be configured to get access to all OneDrive profiles.

4. Configure the target

When you create a user account in Office 365, the OneDrive profile is not created automatically. It is created on the fly the first time a user connects to OneDrive.
Cloudiway has developed a solution to automatically trigger the provisioning of OneDrives.
During the preprocessing task of the migration, OneDrive profiles are automatically created.
Permissions are then automatically set for the migration account.

5. Create users

Add User
6. Migrate

Select your users and start your migration.
You’re done!
