This article describes the best practices for migrating to OneDrive and SharePoint online libraries.
Create a dedicated migration account and define it in the target connector.
The account defined in the connector must be the administrator of SharePoint (for example, for triggering the provisioning of OneDrive profiles, etc.).
It doesn’t have to be administrator of the Office 365 tenant.
During file migration, the migration account becomes owner of the migrated documents.
To avoid this, you can perform two actions.
- In the global settings, activate migration of metadata. It will migrate the owner field.
Now, there will be two owners of each file (the initial owner + the migration account).
- At the end of the migration, delete the migration account. It will automatically clean up all the metadata associated to it.
