Office 365 in self-service mode with Cloudiway

If it’s not possible to define an administrator account with Impersonation rights, Cloudiway offers an alternative: the self-service migration.
In this mode, when the administrator of the migration defines a user in Cloudiway, a mail is sent to the user.
When the user clicks on the link contained in the mail, he is prompted to enter his mailbox credentials and when he click on Start, the migration begins automatically.
Note: the migration occurs on Cloudiway servers. Once the migration has started, the user can close the browser window or shutdown their computer without affecting the migration. The self-service engine is used to simply collect the credentials and send them to the migration engine hosted in Cloudiway data centers.

How to configure?

To migrate Office 365 mailboxes in self-service you need to create an Exchange connector.

1. Create a connector

Click on Mail Migration > Sources (or Targets) and click on New.
Select an Exchange connector and give a name (simple label).

Note: You can also start the wizard and select this migration scenario.

Once created, choose option ‘Self-migration’.

2. Choose email’s destination

Choose where the mails to start the migration should be sent: to the source or target mailbox.

If you leave to none, you should collect the passwords from your users and authenticate each user using this password after starting the migration.

Fill in Server name as This is a default URL for Office 365.

Server version can be chosen 2013.

3. Create your user list

Go to Mail User List and create your users by Creating a Single or Uploading CSV.

4. Start your migration

4.1 Click on User link if you know the user’s credentials (or had reset the passwords of all users to one Magic password).

In any other cases, click on Migration>Start. The user appears in status ‘Email Sent’ .

4.2 Now your user should receive an email with the link.

5. Provide user’s credentials

Once the user clicks on the link, new browser window will be opened. Your user should provide his or her Password and click on Start.

Once the button Start clicked, user appears in Scheduled status, then Working. The migration is running now.
